Company Profile
Merit Engineering, Inc., founded in 1993, is a growing engineering
consulting firm full of vigor and vitality. We have a strong expertise and are specialized
in geotechnical and environmental engineering. We offer full scale geotechnical
engineering, soil laboratory and field testing, geological engineering, hydrogeology, and
environmental services.
Dr. Huang, president and principal of the firm, has strong expertise
and extensive research and consulting experience in geotechnical and geological
engineering. He holds 14 research publications including four in the world leading
research journals. The most recent paper is about poro-elastic theoretical model for
hydraulic fracturing in-situ stress measurement. The paper has been collected into the
Society for Mining Engineering's permanent literature. The paper has presented the new
model through review of the history of the model development in the field of
poro-elasticity and effective stresses. Huang's model made significant contribution to
rock mechanics both in understanding of effective stresses in saturated porous medium and
in understanding of the effect of rock anisotropy on pore pressure and effective stresses.
He also served as technical paper peer reviewer for International Journal of Rock
Mechanics and Geotechnical Testing Journal. He is an Adjunct Faculty Member at Western
Washington University and opened "Soil Mechanics" and "Slope
Stability" courses. He has extensive consulting experience in the area of
Western Washington State and knows glacial geology and soils well. He conducts and manages
all the engineering aspects of Merit's projects in order to maintain a high level of
quality control, and provides final review on the projects so as to assure a quality that
is consistent with the standard of care in the industry. |
