Merit Engineering was hired to perform geotechnical investigations on the sites where 7 new Post Office buildings were proposed to be built. The sites were in rural areas in Black Diamond, Burley, Camano Island, Vaughn, Orting, Marblemount, and Everson, Washington. Our investigations focused on soil bearing capacity, slope stability, and the depth to bedrock. Foundation and drainage designs were then undertaken.

Merit was also responsible for designing the septic systems for each site and verifying that the soils were suitable for the proposed designs. In many cases, Merit had to relocate septic drain fields and redesign whole systems due to inadequate soil conditions and or county regulations.

Due to Merit's expertise in both septic design and geotechnical exploration, the investigations were performed quickly, accurately, and at a minimal cost.
